Animal was one half of the Road Warriors. The other half was long time friend, Hawk. Trained by Eddie Sharkey, Animal grew up to be one of the most successful men in the tag team business. He's most famously known for his face paint, dog tags, spiked shoulder pads and many other objects which made his appearance seem more sinister. Animal held many titles, most mainly the tag team championship with his friend, the late Road Warrior Hawk.
Animal and Hawk were a legendary tag team who were especially popular in the 80s and 90s. They feuded with many tag teams, most recently they had a match in 2003 against Kane and Rob Van Dam the then World Tag Team Champions.
After Hawk passed away, Animal went on to form a new generation Road Warriors with Heidenreich. The duo had small success on the SmackDown! brand, enjoying a small feud with Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro along with their manager Melina. The two teams aquared off at The Great American Bash PPV where Animal, Heidenreich and Christy Hemme took on Mercury, Nitro and Melina in a winning effort.
Animal eventually turned heel when the team disbanded and resverted to wearing denim chaps, complete with a handlebar moustache. This new tough "biker" gimmick did not get over with the fans who described it as "extremely homoerotic", Animal would enjoy minor singles success before disappearing from our TV screens, taking his leather chaps with him.
