Benoit trained in the legendary Stu Hart "Dungeon" before he wrestled quite literally across the world. Benoit held a variety of titles in ECW, WCW and WWE, including a Royal Rumble win. Benoit was without a doubt one of Canada's finest technical wrestlers.

Chris, his wife Nancy, and their 7-year-old son Daniel were found dead in their Fayetteville, Georgia home on June 25, 2007. Authorities confirmed that Benoit killed his wife and son, and subsequently hung himself. WWE officials had alerted police after Benoit missed several live appearances, including Vengeance: Night of Champions on June 24, 2007. Benoit, an ECW performer, was scheduled to compete for the ECW World Championship against CM Punk at the event, but he was replaced and the belt went to Johnny Nitro.

Benoit appeared in every game from WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role until WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2007.
