The Hardcore Championship is a now defunct title which was defended in hardcore conditions (no rules applied). It was first awarded to Mankind back in 1998, and years later made exclusive to the RAW brand. Rob Van Dam is considered the final hardcore champion as he defeated Tommy Dreamer in 2002 to unify his Intercontinental Championship.
The championship appears as a regular belt on the first four SmackDown! titles, but made its return in SmackDown! vs. Raw 2006 as an unlockable.

Bradshaw is the default Hardcore Champion. In season mode there are two occasions where the Hardcore Championship is defended in a 6-man time limit match, similar to the match from Wrestlemania 2000. These matches occur every season at Judgement Day 2002 and Armageddon 2002.
 Smackdown!: Here Comes The Pain
Despite having been retired for over a year, the Hardcore Championship returned in HCTP with Rob Van Dam as the default champion, under the RAW brand. There is only one 6-man time limit match in season mode this time, in December 2003 on RAW.
