Steel Cage

A Steel Cage match consists of two superstars locked into a 15-foot high cage, and to win the match, the player must either escape the cage by climbing over the top and all the way down, or by pinfall/submission. An alternate way is to escape through the cage door(in some versions).

This game has been included since the first WWF SmackDown! game, all the way up until now. Throughout the years, at every title the match has been updated and ameliorated in little ways. In the older titles, it was quite easy to win as the player simply had to exit the cage and he could do so early in the match, without necessarily having to damage his opponent severely. Later on, they changed the features and gameplay surroundings to make it so it doesn't happen.

Later on, they added the steel cage door in WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2007, with a mini-game permitting the ability to exit the door to win the match. Also, in WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2006, the Legend Cage was added in the game as a special treat. The Legend Cage consists of a cage made of big blue steel bars, with a squared pattern.

[edit] Types of Steel Cage Match

  • Singles
  • Tornado Tag
  • Triple Threat
  • Fatal-4-Way

In SvR07, there was the option of having Steel Cage matches with pin or without pin, associated with the types. For example, you could choose a singles steel cage match, or a singles steel cage match w/pin. In WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2008, the option has just been moved to the match rules, permitting to trigger it ourselves.
