Triple Threat
From Smackdown! - Wiki on Neoseeker
Background
A triple threat match, or three-way dance as named in the first WWF SmackDown! game, is a multi-man match which consists of three men in the ring at once, and the first man to score a pinfall or submission gets to win the match. Usually, in real life there is no disqualifications, but in the games the DQ option remains on, setting a feeling of confusion as no one knows really who wins the match if a triple threat(or Fatal Four Way) ends by DQ. In a championship match though, the champion would obviously retain his title regardless.
In real life of sports-entertainment, multi-man matches such as these present quite a dilemma when it comes to a title match. Indeed, there is always concern about the champion as he may lose the title without being pinned; that point is always stressed upon during the hype culminating to the match.
