It may not be realized, but Michael Cole has been featured in every single SmackDown! game since the series started and has had more roles in the game than any other WWE announcer. Cole's part in each series has varied to anything from an interviewer, to an announcer, to, yes, a wrestler. During the WWE Draft 2008, Michael Cole was drafted to RAW to take the place of Good Ol' JR.

WWF SmackDown!

The first series of the game did not feature commentary, so Michael Cole's voice was not heard. However, he was seen in some small backstage vignettes in interviews.

WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role

Cole continued his role as a backstage interviewer in Season Mode, but he could also be unlocked to be a wrestler. Michael Cole was initially put into the Non-Wrestler ranking, but you could move him to any ranking if desired. His finisher was known as the standing crossface, which would later be referee's normal finisher (As tested when you use a stolen finisher on one).

WWF SmackDown!: Just Bring It

Michael Cole informs Crash Holly that General Manager William Regal is looking for him in season mode of WWF SmackDown!: Just Bring It.

Michael Cole and Tazz made history to be the first commentators to be recorded for live commentary during matches for the SmackDown! series. Michael Cole was also once again seen backstage for interviewing segments.

He can also be unlocked as a playable character if you approach him backstage, accept his challenge and then win the match against him during Season Mode.

WWE SmackDown!: Shut Your Mouth

Michael Cole interviews Big Evil at WWE The World in Times Square in WWE SmackDown!: Shut Your Mouth.

With Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler taking over the commentary booth, Cole returned to appearing in small interviewing segments.

WWE SmackDown!: Here Comes the Pain

Commentary was taken completely out, but Cole could still be seen in short segments backstage.

WWE SmackDown vs. RAW

Now that commentary was back, Michael Cole and Tazz returned with much improved commentary from the previous choppy, delayed play-by-play in Just Bring It.
